Surfers Paradise, Australia In just two years, the Gold Coast V8 Supercars event has cemented its place as a major international motor race that offers a wonderful throwback to how it used to be. Over the past 10 years, a few drivers have dominated the Gold Coast Jamie Whincup has won the race five times and is the driver that has gained the most wins in the event. There are 12 drivers in this year’s ARMOR ALL Gold Coast field making their first appearance in a V8 Supercar on the streets of Surfers Paradise. Of them, only Maro Engel, Scott McLaughlin, Alex Premat and Matt Halliday are yet to race in any category at the event. It was the Round 12 of the International V8 Supercars Championship and the 22nd year running of the Surfers Paradise Street Circuit race.
